As other people have mentioned, one of the great things about Firefox is its extensions. One of the points overlooked, however, is that Opera supports its own extension format just fine, but with a far smaller developer community contributing, it just doesn't have the depth behind it. Firefox has extensions for fuckin' EVERYTHING. I couldn't live a single day without the Web Developer extension. Seriously, before having this, I don't know how I managed to not go bugfuck insane working on HTML design. It is without a doubt the most powerful fucking tool imaginable to a developer, it's entirely free, and one of THOUSANDS of extensions in the repository.
I can't sing the praises of Firefox highly enough. No piece of software is 100% bug free, and there has been a couple of times where it has flat out just crashed on me, but when IE used to go down, it'd take explorer with it - at least FF has the grace to crash cleanly.
