My grandfather went through that. Started pissing blood and went to the doc. They did all the tests and whatnot, discovered the tumor in his bladder, it had spread from there to his prostate as well. Since he had a 100 year pack life (heavy smoker, stopped around ten years ago), doc said this was fairly normal. He did over 1k of these surgery?s and said in all but two the person had been a fairly heavy smoker.

Anyways, he didn?t want to have the surgery but family talked him into it. He got it done, healed ok (but slow). He got his bladder + prostate removed. He died around two years after that. Without the surgery he would have lasted a couple of weeks according to the doc but I think he would have lasted much longer. He probably would have done better if he could have had chemo but because of his age/condition, they didn?t give it to him.

Anyways, if your pops has a similar history of smoking and whatnot, just take it seriously. Hopefully it ain?t the same thing but it sounds almost identical.
