i have a feeling it is there way of finding out which unactive affiliates won't notice and respond back, maybe because they got out of the business or for some other reason. this way they can keep the payments from these unactive affiliates without any hassle and the unactive affiliates not noticing. if they were to send out snail mail or an email then they have less of a chance keep payments from unactive affiliates because more unactive affiliates would complain if actually notified.

either way, it sucks they do business this way.
