Take a look at the Torah some time.
God orders Moses to destroy 60 cities and to kill all the kids and women inside. He tells the Israelites to kill a shitload of people. He orders Moses to kill the Medianites. Well not all of them, he does say to save the virgins to be raped by the soldiers at a later time. I can go on and on about their God commanding them to kill people, sacrifice people, enslave people, rape people, and so on. We have genocide, infanticide, and tons of other bits of fun.
The difference is that the crazies aren't running their countries, while the crazies are running the Islamic ones. It takes awhile for religions to mature. Remember that Christians were beheading people for talking about the Earth not being the center of the universe a couple centuries ago.
