Most owners would love a cap but the players union will never go for it. The MLB players union is much stronger than the NFL's was when it got a salary cap. Perhaps they could get a cap if they agreed to expand by 2 more teams and thus providing the union with 50 more dues paying members. That's the only way I see a cap becoming reality in MLB.
