The word actually derives from the god Bacchus who was the god of wine. Another definition of Bacchanalia (uppercase) is "The ancient Roman festival in honor of Bacchus."
Bachus loved him some libations and lots of flesh:
"The god of wine and of an orgiastic religion celebrating the power and fertility of nature."
Either way its a whole lot of wine and sex.
