My friend just got one, and it seems to work pretty well. Sound was fucked up at first, but he played with some of the settings, and now when he calls it just sounds normal.
You have to have a PC with XP or Vista (not ME, or 98, etc).
You can use a MAC, but only System 10+ and it has to be an intel based machine.
Since it works through your computer you have to keep your modem AND your computer on at all times.
They do not offer number portability yet, but are supposed to sometime in 2009 (the ability to keep you old number when switching to MagicJack).
Not certain how to plug it into a phone system, but an awesome solution for cheap phone calls - local, long distance, and even international!
I think the first year is $39.95, billed at $19.95 or $29.95 each year thereafter (not sure which) , and I think they even offer a 5 year deal for like $59.95.
It is certainly a very inexpensive phone service! I may look into myself in 2009, once they sort out the portability thing...
