Technically they never go away, but you may be able to reduce the symptoms to not even knowing you've got them. If not, from what I have read the surgery to remove them is pretty much the most painful known to man and recovery takes several weeks.
Try one or all of the following.
- Do not force your shit out. Just relax and let it pass on it's own, even if you have to sit there for a longer period of time.
- Eat more fiber or take fiber supplements. Raisins are an easy way to get it. Not enough water or vitamin E may also help cause them. Too much dairy and it's lactic acid may also be a problem.
- Do not sit in a way that puts pressure directly on your asshole (old chair, sitting on your foot, etc...)
- Use the squatting method to shit. In many parts of the world they don't have toilets to sit on, but a hole in the floor they squat down over (google chinese toilet). So you'd have to take your pants off, get your feet up on the toilet seat and squat there. Theory being, this is the natural position for humans to take a shit so it's more healthy. Interesting enough, tribal communities do not have hemorrhoids.
- Wipe very well afterwards, and use a moist baby wipe or wet down toilet paper if you have to.
