I have always liked that news hits gfy super fast - often before news outlets. Thus it is also a double edged sword.
I have joked around before that unless you witness it firsthand, and are typing it out via wireless in the same place as you witnessed it while it is still in progress - odds are someone has already posted it on here and you should check at least the main page.
If you got the news from a news outlet, then at least check past 3 pages of GFY before posting it - forget about it if the news is also more than an hour old usually.
