No doubt, Vendzilla, you influenced your daughter in positive ways (Happy Fathers Day next Sunday) but in the end the choices your daughter made were hers to make. Had your daughter made a poor choice in her life, it wouldn't have been a reflection on your parenting or your efforts. How many times have you seen in good families siblings being polar opposites from each other and they have the same parents? The reason that happens is kids are individuals and some will grow up and make stupid choices. Even the best parents in the world can have kids who turn out bad. A kid's poor choices should never label parents as automatically being hypocrites or them being poor parents!

I agree. I don't agree with much Palin says or does, but she is not a hypocrite. She is the genuine article. She preaches abstinence and when it didn't work, she didn't stop preaching it. She has her beliefs and she is sticking by them no matter what people say about her.
As for kids and their parent's influence...I don't have kids, but my brother and most of my friends do. You can only give your kid so much information, values, morals. Eventually they are going to make a choice to believe in them or not. Often times kids do exactly the opposite that you want them to because they want to rebel, it is natural for them to feel that. I know a few people who are ultra-religious and conservative and in both their cases their kids were hellions behind the backs. they smoked, drank, had sex and did everything they were told not to. In the end you can just give your kids information and hope they listen to it and use it when it comes to making decisions.
