I'm pretty pessimistic when it comes to the future of this country as it pertains to health care. I think one of two things is going to happen.

1. We do nothing. they talk a good game, but ultimately there is no change in health care and things go on as they always have. This means the cost of health care will continue to rise, the cost of premiums will continue to rise, the rate of denials of service will continue to rise and medical related bankruptcies will continue to rise. Eventually it will get expensive enough that employers will start passing more and more of the cost onto their employees or they will just hire fewer people because they can't afford to give them benefits. The insurance and pharmaceutical companies will continue to pillage the American people and we will see our heath care system become so expensive that it will cost everyone a much larger percentage of their income then it is now.

Or.

2. The government creates a national health care system and brings lower cost health care to everyone. The problem is it is so mismanaged and screwed up that it bankrupts the government and they crank up the taxes to pay for it.

I think having an affordable, good health care system is possible, but I thing there are so many special interests involved that it will never actually happen.
