Looking back on my life I don't ever remember being taught about nutrition in school. The cafeteria served burgers and pizza and fried chicken and even in health class they covered basic nutrition, but there was never anything that was directed at helping you come up with a good, healthy diet. Of course you can find that stuff on your own, but many people do not. They are raised on crap food, ate it in school and just continue down that path until it is too late.

You can't blame it on fast food anymore. Most fast food places have come out with healtheir options. When I eat at McDonald's I eat the grilled chicken sandwich without bacon and the yogurt parfait. It is up to each person to watch what they eat and to work out.

It was also never up to the schools to teach us about nutrition. That was our parents job to do. The school may have briefly covered it, but it is not hard to figure out what is and isn't healthy. The schools now are serving pretty healthy foods.
