I have to disagree. Your dog does not call the shots, you do. He should have no problem getting a 7 month old puppy used to the crate.
A pitbull puppy can do more damage to your house in a day than anyone should have to deal with. Crating them during the day until they are house trained well enough and have learned a decent temperament is a great way to keep your household harmony in check.
