Now that has changed. I think it's a pretty big deal. I'd also like to remind you that you can pretty much DMCA anybody and get your stuff down. EXCEPT the pirate bay. They refused to take anything down for anybody. And they were the biggest.
So add it all up and yes it does mean something. It's a big victory for people who make a living in so many different industries. This is the first step. Yeah, they might find a way to get back online temporarily. And they might be able to run for a while. But they are on the run now.
The tide is changing.

you mean the precedent of spending a million dollars, and months of time investigating, years of time trying to convice the police to do another investigation, to get a conviction so you can get their internet cut off in one country only to have them move their connection to another so that the process would have to start all over again.

i will bet you that the pirate bay will successfully get the conviction overturned before that cycle happens in another country.
