The blog is pretty lightweight in graphics, uses caches and minimum plugins so shouldn't be a huge demand on a servers resources. I'm trying to determine which hosting type to go with first that takes the following into account.
1- Running 1 WP site only that is as described above.
2- No sysadmin experience, limited knowledge of linux. With a tool like phpMyAdmin and a LAMP stack already set up I'd be good to go, though, no need for CPanel, etc.
3- Starting out not anticipating much traffic but within 3 months reaching upwards of 5k daily visitors and beyond. When necessary I'd move to a dedicated box, but just don't feel comfortable laying out that much cash while in the growth/build phase.
I want to go with MOJO HOST but i know its throwing cash away for at least a few months before there is much traffic to the site (they only have dedicated boxes). ON the flip side, I'm not sure how much of a headache it would be to move servers when it becomes necessary plus with set-up fees maybe its better to bite the bullet and gamble a few hundred/thousand dollars and just start with a dedicated at mojo.
Regardless of which route to go, I'm having trouble figuring out my RAM requirements for when the site is small/growing. Once I start reaching over 5k hits I'm assuming I need to be at 2GB and expanding it upwards as necessary. Serving cached pages significantly reduces the ram requirements, though (i would imagine).
Any hosting gurus with insight? Would 256mb -512mb handle upwards of 2k hits a day with the blog described above and optimized to be as light as possible? With no CPanel running, just phpMyAdmin or something like that so I can set up the WP install manually?
Any help appreciated.
