Some companies have been using products like Verisign or McAfeeSecure. Those do a great job scanning sites for viruses and providing SSL encryption but they do very little to protect the consumer from a dishonest site owner (that is not their intended purpose). In fact you may find those logos on sites that have hidden xsells and other tricks designed to screw the surfer because while the site is properly encrypted or properly virus protected the owner is running some kind of scam.
To my knowledge WebsiteSecure.org is the first and only service actively doing test joins and cancels, reading terms of service pages word for word and taking other measures to do all that is possible to be sure consumers are being charged only what they believe they will be charged at the point of sale.
Having owned and operated paysite review sites and reviewed more than 3,500 adult sites, owned and operated WebmasterScore and reviewed more than 250 affiliate programs... WebsiteSecure.org is a very big project and requires a lot of work but it is also a logical extension of what I have been doing for years. Best of all it helps honest site owners monetize the fact that they are honest.
