California has 84 registered hate groups (and has way more members than a few southern states combined)
Louisiana only has 22
louisiana has a pop. of under 5 million while california in itself has over 36 million, so if ca had more of a problem with hate groups per capita than louisiana, they would have to have over 7 times as many; they have less than four times the amount. closeted hate is not to be underestimated either. i wouldn't blanket the whole state of ca just because of the rough parts of LA with people who carry prison segregation & racist mentality... pretty liberal state with more tolerance for that stuff.
with so many people to come in contact with you in la, it's likely you will experience some bad things... i've been down south as well in areas like alabama and certain parts of lousiana and texas and i haven't personally experienced anything negatively there myself either.
