The OS is basically a browser with a kernel. So instead of loading up programs to a drive you are using cloud computing. In other words your email is Gmail or webmail.aol.com instead of a stand alone program.
Your solitaire is not a stand alone app in the programs directory of your computer that happens to be linked into your games menu. It is a URL to a flash version of solitaire on your own choice of provider.
What is it meant for? It is meant for people that have a tiny computer that makes a laptop look like a super computer. A simple yet to be created device you can buy for $200 and it allows you to connect to the net from start up to typing in seconds. It won't need a big battery because it isn't always on. Android will handle phones. This is for something entirely different.
Do we really need it though? Probably not.
This seems like somebodies baby at Google and that person might be a founder because this thing has been going on for far too long. Android is where they should be going. Chrome OS is like creating Win3.1 AFTER you have made Win 7...
