without Rita, the entire duality of the character is shot.

I'm not looking forward to next season for the following reason: it looks like the whole season is going to be dealing with the aftermath from the last episode. Dex has no alibi for the murder, and the murder doesn't fit trinity's pattern, so people will ask ALOT of questions about why dex sent the kids away, where he was while the murder was taking place, etc etc etc.

I'll watch it and find out, but i do not have high hopes for next season.
ya great points. i was happy to see Doakes die but the Rita thing is confusing. He just made a breakthrough with her a few scenes before she was killed. Now what?? lol

yea i missed that. gotta watch it again and see if there are any other hints.

some people are saying its a dream, but i cant remember Dexter ever dreaming. they definitely wouldnt end a season on a dream. and if the "its already over" remark had to do with Rita, then wow
