I seem to remember someone in the know (probably KimmyKim) saying that initial and rebill transactions were different, and the CVV2 and possibly expiry date were not needed to successfully rebill.

Shady? Hmmm. That's how ccbill charged my card, I didn't bother cancelling a membership since the card was going to expire, but they managed to rebill me.
