Yeah, type 2 is mostly related to bad health etc.
Type 1 everybody can get, young, old, fat, slim, healthy or not so healthy.
It is a auto immune problem were your body attacks your beta cells for no reason and destroy them. Your pancreas is no longer able to make/release insulin which you need to burn sugar.
Many people with type 1 have it since birth, many children have this.
It's unknown why the immune system suddenly decides to attack your beta cells.
