This is such a catastrophe. I don't think most of the country realizes what a big deal this is. There was an offshore spill off our coast maybe 20 years ago, no where near this size, we had oil balls washing up on the beaches for 2 years afterwards. You would get oil all onver the bottoms of your feet, tons of dead fish and birds. awful. To this day if you go scuba diving off the coast, you only need to brush away like an inch of sand and there is still a thick black crust of petrolium.
