There is a genre of music called hip hop Gary, or rap. What they tend to do is create a beat by sampling (this means recording) other people's drum sounds, or guitar riffs and then carefully editing them all together to make a new song! I know! It sounds like the future, doesn't it!
This is why the guitar music is by Slash (probably), and yet the gentleman speaking words, or "rapping" is - as you spotted - African American.
Don't get confused by black people sampling James Brown, who was also black. This is OK.
