and when i showed him a sponsor's website as an example, he somehow interpreted the "we pay you $40 per every sale you send us" stuff as "affiliate has to pay the sponsor $40 every time the affiliate refers a sale"

and then he was like oh no, i don't think i can afford to do this!!

i agreed and stopped talking to him, because what.

(he also asked me why wordpress themes are called themes, and when i was like, well a theme is a recurring motif or design, and themes bring a uniform design to a blog, this also baffled him. he is 25 years old and does not understand the definition of "theme" - when i asked him to give me an example of a theme, trying to help him grasp it, he gave me an example of... a splash landing page. no. no, something that only occurs once, on the landing page, by definition is not recurring, and thus not a theme. shut up, i hate you.)
