I'd try the glue method since you're just putting a bit of glue on something and trying to attach it to the key. And it's a side case, so you won't be any more fucked than you are now.
Additionally, why didn't you just post "I broke a key in the side case lock on my bike" rather than drag the thread on with posting additional information that would have helped early posters?
