Online backups don't work for me. Not when I have 40+ TB to backup. A solid on-site backup plan trumps online backup every time.
Here's the trick: Store data in triplicate. Keep one set for actively working with, one backup set on-site, and one backup set off-site, then constantly rotate your two backups. You cannot fail. There is no way three sets of data will be destroyed or stolen all at the same time.
