Who cares about character encoding on a coming soon page that gets no traffic? I put this page up as a temp page as I'm 1,800 hours into a massive project. I'm not going to bother with all the trimmings like alt text on each image. The vast majority of hits from the W3C validator are just from the Flash elements...
I also needed to use data- properties (which I use for some JS)...
Whoopdie-fuckin-do ... Still doesn't change the fact that tables are not good for layout...
My site looks and functions fine in IE8, IE9, FF, Chrome, and Opera on Windows and Safari, FF, and Chrome on OS X... that's good enough for me (for a temp page) ;)
