Isn't Mallick a US citizen living in California?

Even if it is all overseas companies and all, the DOJ and IRS would immediately be all over him.

That is the one thing that makes no sense and still has me hopeful that it is just one big cluster fuck.

Sure Middle Men is a flop, but if he sunk cash into it, it was cash he already had and if he somehow financed it then he could just default on the loans. Either way, he'd have some income coming in from Epass and other businesses. If he sunk all of his extra cash into Middle Men he could adjust his lifestyle and live off the income from his existing businesses without committing multiple felonies.
