What ever it is, it should be pretty cool. The Chandra X-Ray observatory has found alot of interesting stuff in its 10 years or so of operation including a Super Nova in our own galaxy.
The coolest, weirdest thing that Chandra has discovered is this (get ready to freak your heads out).
The Universe started with a Big Bang, right? All of the stars and galaxies are flying away from each other and have been for the past 14 Billing years or so. Common knowledge so far, right?
But get this:
The SPEED at which the galaxies are flying away from each other is INCREASING. Yes, increasing. It makes no sense. What is accounting for the increasing speed? Where is the energy coming from?
Expansion was slowing down, but something strange happened about 6 billion years ago with expansion began to speed up.
So cool...and so strange..
