At the very top I'd put
Gershwin's original Rhapsody In Blue (1925 recording)
and I really dig Eugene Liszt's version of Franz Liszt's "Mephisto Waltz."
an anecdote - one time Franz Liszt was challenged by a fellow pianist to play a piece of music he had written.
the piece contained a passage which he thought was humanly impossible to play, but Liszt played the piece and when the part came up he simply used his nose to hit the key.
