I used to be an editor at Dmoz long, long ago (2000ish). It was strange. I secretly had my own sites and had to hide that fact in order to get in. A little crooked, yes, but I only listed two or three of my own mainstream sites while there. The bureaucracy was insane. Far worse than even Wikipedia is today. In a way it was like working for the KGB. Everyone was under suspicion.
Anyway, I'm sure things are quite a bit different now.
