If money is the main goal, I would recommend your nephew practices by creating smooth vector illustrations with Illustrator CS5 and sell them on stock photo websites or the Envato marketplace.
I point out CS5 specifically because there is a new feature for manual control over line width in that version that is very helpful in creating smooth and attractive line art.
I know advice was not requested, but he has talent and just needs the correct tools to work with and practice.
