What kind of stupid fucked up shit is this?
I loved this:
Quote:
"He felt degraded, he was hurt and the kids picked on him later," she said.

Anyone who has kids knows that kids pick on kids daily. Constantly. They don't need a reason, and if they do, they'll make one up.
At the end of the day, it seems the kids learned something:
Quote:
"They got to look in your mouth and feel your legs and stuff and see if you're strong and stuff."

Outstanding. The kids learned first hand that slaves were picked based on certain qualities, mostly strength.
Kids learning by doing, not reading about what happened in a book. When I was about that age, we learned about the liberty bell by making one, not reading about it in a book.
So long as the kids walk away learning about what happened in one of the darkest moments of American History - and learning that it was wrong and that people can't own people - it's all good.
