They're OK for business cards, just make sure they're printed big enough to be scanned (at least 1/2 the size of the card). I've been using QR codes since their inception but have yet to get a lead that made any money from them. I personally think they're more of a novelty than a practical application. The person already has your business card, why in God's name would they scan it into their smartphone when they could just contact you based on the information printed on your business card? Seems like a waste to me.
I would use them for marketing with ads, impressions, etc. That way you can at least gauge your ROI and test your marketing strategies.
