As an old school Ultima Online player myself (96-2000, Baja and Great Lakes), don't even bother with any of todays "MMOs". They are all so dry and you will only be pissed off chasing that Ultima Online feeling ;]
There will never be a game like UO, and its impossible to describe what made the game so damn awesome to anyone that never played.
There is a free UO server I recently found out about,
www.inporylem.com. Surprisingly a fairly large playerbase (2k+) clients. Its amazing what you remember about the game even after 10 years. I still remembered damn near the entire map, Brit Xroads what!
