We don't really know what was offensive about any of it. All we see is them being arrested and saying "We are only dancing". For all you and I know, a few moments before they were all running around screaming.

There's a difference between acting like an idiot and saying something stupid - which I am prone to do from time to time - and offensive behavior in public. For example, if ten of your friends decide to dance in the movie theatre that's offensive behavior that is included under disturbing the peace.

Not really. If I call the police and say "someone is acting suspicious" it is the duty of the police to look into it. (This happened the other day when someone was standing outside of my house watching my wife leave, which made both of us rather nervous.) While it's not cause for a "smack down", if the police decide to issue a ticket or a citation, and you refuse to produce ID, your going to be arrested. And if your going to refuse arrest, your going down and your going down hard. In that case, yes, you will get a smack down.

Jaywalking is a crime in context of you can be ticketed for it. If my daughter was caught jaywalking, was being ticketed by the police, and refused to produce ID I would expect that she would be arrested. And if she resisted arrest, she would be smacked down.
This is a simple matter of a group of people disturbing the peace, refusing to produce ID so they can receive a ticket, and then refusing arrest. And yeah, they got smacked down. You resist arrest, you get smacked down. Period.
