There are 3 types of LED lighting you will find locally

110v Quality:
You will pay a lot but have a choice of brightness, color temperatures and coatings at your disposal. They last longer and tend to produce natural lighting effects. Purchase these at specialty lighting shops. Most will life the life of the fixture you install it into.

110v Low Quality:
Anything at walmart, kmart, supermarket, home depot etc. This is the second grade stock. The component LED bulbs did not pass the quality test but function enough to be usable. Color temperatures cannot be guaranteed. You may get a super bright LED assembly or a super dark one. Avoid.

Low Voltage:
Typically found at lighting shops. I wont even count the walmart garbage because it is. Parts of the strips will be dark, parts will be light and they will burn out quick. The good stuff is perfect, customizable like the 100v variety and have a magnitude of applications for strips, runners, pucks, dots, etc etc etc

Compact CFLS are a moneys aver but produce terrible lighting and cannot guarantee color temperature as they age. Also very unfriendly for the environment since they contain mercury and don't last long.
