malignant melanoma has a varying survival rate - as low as 15% survival for the worst cases - so always get it checked out.

Stage 1A
About 95 out of 100 people (95%) diagnosed with stage 1A melanoma will live for more than 5 years. Around 88 out of 100 people (88%) will live for more than 10 years.
Stage 1B
About 89 to 91 out of 100 people (89 to 91%) diagnosed with stage 1B melanoma will live for more than 5 years. Around 79 to 83 out of 100 people (79 to 83%) will live for more than 10 years.
Stage 2A
About 77 to 79 out of 100 people (77 to 79%) diagnosed with stage 2A melanoma will live for more than 5 years. Around 64 out of 100 people (64%) will live for more than 10 years.
Stage 2B
About 63 to 67 out of 100 people (63 to 67%) diagnosed with stage 2B melanoma will live for more than 5 years. Around 51 to 54 out of 100 people (51 to 54%) will live for more than 10 years.
Stage 2C

Stage 3B

When the melanoma cells have spread into the skin or lymph vessels close to the original melanoma, between 30 and 50 out of 100 people (30 to 50%) will live for more than 5 years.
Stage 3C
About 24 to 29 out of 100 people (24 to 29%) diagnosed with stage 3C melanoma will live for more than 5 years. Around 15 to 24 out of 100 people (15 to 24%) will live for more than 10 years.
Stage 4
Understandably, the survival statistics for stage 4 melanoma are lower than for earlier stages.
