Many ways to breakdown (and spell) things in the "tranny" niche. In the thread so far are examples of it. Certain words mean different things to surfers depending on the country they're from.
Overall, "tranny" and "shemale" are interchangeable. Shemale is the porn term for a transsexual. Almost always a Shemale lives their lives as a female, has the enhancements like tits and hormones. Basically looks like a female when they're naked except for a cock. "Tranny" to some can include shemales, post-op transsexuals and crossdressers.
Then from there you have specific terms based on region, such as "Ladyboy". Ladyboy is the term for a Thai Shemale, though the term has been adopted to cover any Asian Shemale. In Thailand they're called "Kathoeys", which by no coincidence is the name they give to hybrid golf clubs. I've seen the term Kathoey spells other ways; Kathoey, Katoey, Katoy, Katooey. Japan has the term "newhalf" and the Philippines have their own term.
Rarely would a surfer search for Tranny and want to see a 'transvestite'. More common term used is crossdresser.
Again, the region the surfer is from plays big importance on what they are really searching for.
