I understand. But you don't get that its not a waste of time. Its a simple question of volume. Its like email spam. You don't worry about super clean lists and the guy who has a great spam filter who thinks you're just wasting your time, you worry about mailing 10,000,000 a day because at the end of the day, its a numbers game. ;)
Also, people are using tools like scrapebox and not filtering the urls into a master list to remove duplicates, so when scraping for blog pages, they keep getting the same blog pages again and again and hitting them. There are far less blogs online than people think (wordpress, blogengine etc) and people keep ending up with the same URLs again and again when they scrape SERPs.
But anyway, its about volume. If you want to build 250k backlinks a month to a site and its deeper pages, you are not really concerned with the little stuff... just volume. Its not efficient to waste time trying to be perfect.
