I read about the menstrual cycle and the lunar cycle being the same length, this is because before there was street lighting the best time for mating was with moonlight present (also it was more difficult to sleep when there was a lot of moonlight).

It's mainly guys in the Northern Hemisphere who sign up to sites, so I'm guessing that either their bodies also pick up on the lunar cycle to some extent or that the female pheromones being given off in offices/shops/universities etc all make the guy more likely to sign up to a site.
