Those hammerless revolvers would be a good choice. Or any good revolver in .38. Hammerless have advantages for wear and carry and purse carry. The one disadvantage is they have to be kept loaded for reasonably quick use - so consider that.
The macho boys here will laugh, but I think a .22 is a good choice for a womans gun and general purpose gun. Just teach her to keep pulling the trigger until it's empty. She is more likely to not fear using it after practice.
.380 autos are also a reasonable choice.
Another option often recommended for women is a light breech loading shotgun.
Any of these gun choices are also a good option to have available in a man's set of guns.
