Just ignore him, he's just jealous.
You have lots of alternatives:
- Apple will probably replace your keyboard for free. I stepped on my apple mouse and broke it about 1 month after owning one and the Apple store replaced it free. (They also gave me free out of warranty support once on another issue)
- If you need a keyboard in a hurry you can plug any USB keyboard, even a PC Keyboard, into it. It works nicely. And you can even have 2 keyboards connected at the same time. (I have my Apple wireless keyboard AND an old IBM Clicky keyboard from 1985 which I love - they work perfectly together)
- If you have another computer on your network you can still control your Mac. Get
http://synergy-foss.org/. I think there's a way to do this via the new Lion OS/X too but I don't know how.
