It's NOT the governments job to inform you of your rights, but you must inform yourself. I even went through a period and only came aware after traveling and doing business in countries where you have no rights and realized through my own ignorance how truly good we have it here. After I got home I immediately re-registered to vote and also very active on a State level.
So again, how can you blame them when it's us who's pissing it all away?

When I hear someone complain about something government has done...or about some bill that has been proposed...my first question to them is...what have you said to your Representative/Senator about your concerns. The answer to my question to them is almost 100% the same answer...and that is...they don't have a clue who their Representative/Senator is and what good would it do to contact them even if they did know who they were.
Along the same high percentage...is the number of people that have not read a book since leaving school and the number of people that do not read a newspaper/listen to or watch the news.
