Just sounds like a horrible idea to me. If it raises the cost of a Whopper by a $1.50 to use meat not soaked in ammonia then so be it. I'm gonna take a wild guess it would taste better as well.
The reason some people are so up in arms about it is probably because most people never knew about it before. When they see the ugly truth about how their cheap burgers are made it probably makes them sick to their stomachs.

what you say is correct. But pink slime is just the tip of the iceberg if the public is going to suddenly worry about what they are eating. Some of what sells in the supermarket is completely synthetic. Enough so that a company named "whole foods" is carving out a niche in actual food.
it also makes no sense to reject pink slime & eat at mcdonalds.
