i think a lot of it has to do with most people are lazy and just think things are going to fall into their lap. rather than actually working hard, they just sit around and blame the economy.

a friend of mine has a small sporting goods business and he complains all the time about no one coming in, so instead he raised up his prices on stuff, then the people that were coming in, dont anymore.

I tried to tell him how to bring in more business and get those people to keep shopping, but he says he's not going to bother with people online, its not worth it
I think people are afraid of failing at new things. If they already have one part of their life in progress and maybe not doing so well, they don't seem to be afraid to admit that they are failing at that. However, to start up something completely new and fail also at that (which happens because of trial and error) is too much for many people to handle.

I was dealing with a guy last week. I have five geographic, highly targeted phone call leads for this particular service every day. I offer a free two week trial. Completely free, no strings attached. He flat out refused and said he did not want the leads.
