Ya know NY is one of the few states (actually the only state) to lock up the first I think $2500 in a bank account and keep it insulated from all garnishment.
All other states this shit happens and you have to say bye bye to the bank account and go cash only.
Even IF you are dead broke and have only $500 to your name but in a bank acct, they can and will take it leaving you penniless. Bank accts are not exempt and very hard to get your money back.
And in MN only (where we suck) they can do it before they get a judgement tho the judge must sign off and "probably" wont if you are a poor working person like me who presents no flight risk.
37,000 "pocket service" suits in MN were filed in one year I think 2009 and with many they hit the bank acct before they ever get a judgement. Only in MN. Other states they MUST have a judgement to get a bank acct. NOT in MN.
Yes there is AFTER paperwork you might get some back but bank garns are the bloodsucker's easy pickens and what they are after.
