I'm agnostic at the best of times, but if nothing else, I respect the reasoning behind his ultimate decision. Donny himself had no interest in christianity because of the way it was being presented to him. Only after people representing the same group showed him that they could in fact offer him the love and support that christianity CLAIMS it does universally did he see that HE could accept THEM.
Whether you believe in god or not, you should at the very least respect the reason he "found" and ACCEPTED his god...as well as the message he brings.
***All of that is assuming that the story is accurate btw.
