The Russian losses were enormous as the Fins captured so much (unused) equipment/rifles that they'd shoot the (tens of thousands) captured rifles to find the real shooters, issue them to their own troops, and then throw rest in the melting pot.

Finally, what makes my rifle so valuable? It came with a maintenance logbook numbered to the rifle. Not only has that rifle been in combat, but in the back of the book there is a section titled (translates to) "broken sticks". Many logged broken sticks.
