But, but... freeloaders were NEVER going to pay for porn EVER, apparently? That's one hell of a quote, and would be extremely interesting to see the actual figures.
We are extremely proud of this program. The idea that freeloaders will never pay for porn is a MYTH. Does that mean EVERY pirate will pay for porn? No, of course not. Far from it. But our clients are seeing a lot of joins, and a ton of traffic, from the file hosting sites in our "Making Piracy Pay" program. The further intent of the program is to take the affiliate portion of the join and put it towards our monthly fee. That way these converted pirates are actually paying for our services instead of our fee coming out of the budgets of the producers.

We have a LOT of data that proves just how valuable this "pirate" traffic can be, and what kinds of users convert to legal users, which is very important as our clients need to prove losses in a court of law based on the existence of file hosts and tubes that distribute their files illegally. The actual data really shatters a lot of myths I think.

Having said that, I feel like the geeky set using usenet or die-hard torrent types will never pay for content. But your run-of-the-mill file host downloader will if there are no other easy options.

As people have often said here and elsewhere: make it easy, high quality, convenient and cheap to get it legally and people will.

Hit me up privately (pornguardian.com) for more information if you have any questions.

best,
Dominic
